The PCB Soldering Challenge is a competitive, hands-on technical event designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical electronics assembly. Participants must identify components, solder them onto a PCB, and demonstrate the circuit's functionality in a competition environment. The challenge tests skills in circuit analysis and precision soldering.

Event Round Details

Description

All registered participants will participate in the preliminary round. The round will consist of a combination of technical questions, practical tasks, and circuit-related challenges. Participants will be awarded points based on their performance. The cumulative score will determine qualification for the main PCB soldering challenge.

Rules
  • Complete technical questions, practical tasks, and circuit challenges.
  • Finish all assigned tasks within the specified time.
  • Use only components and equipment provided by the organizers.
  • Follow given circuit designs and event instructions.
  • Do not interfere with other participants' workstations.
  • Refrain from any external assistance during the round.
  • Earn points based on performance to determine main challenge qualification.
Description

Approximately 20–25 participants will qualify for Round 2. Participants will be provided with a pre-designed PCB and a circuit design/specification. They will be required to understand the circuit, identify the appropriate components and values, assemble the PCB, solder the components, and demonstrate the working circuit.

Rules
  • Limit field to approximately 20–25 qualifying participants.

  • Place components with correct orientation and polarity.
  • Avoid short circuits, incorrect connections, or damaged components to prevent mark deductions.
  • Complete the PCB assembly and soldering within the specified time.
  • Demonstrate a fully working, functional circuit to the judges.
  • Follow strict safety precautions while handling soldering irons and equipment.
  • Return all tools and equipment after completing the challenge.
