CommerceEvent Round Details
A written elimination round on paper, open to all registered teams. Questions are assorted from across the business world. Teams record their answers on the sheet provided, and the top 5 teams qualify for the finals.
- The preliminary round will have 20 questions, assorted from across the business world.
- All teams must write down their answers on paper for the preliminary round.
- Each question will be read out once, with 45 seconds to record an answer.
- Every correct answer carries 1 mark. There will be no negative marking.
- Some questions will be marked with a star. These carry the same 1 mark and are used only for tie-breaking.
- Mobile phones and other electronic devices are prohibited. Discussion with other teams or the audience will lead to disqualification.
- The top 5 teams qualify for Round 2. The quizmaster's decision is final and binding.
The team with more starred questions answered correctly is ranked higher. If the tie persists, the team that answered correctly at the earliest question number is ranked higher.
The finals are played on a Jeopardy-style board of 5 categories, each with 4 questions worth 100 to 400 points. Teams take turns picking from the board, with unanswered questions passing to the other teams. The highest total at the end of the board wins.

- The final round will be conducted in a Jeopardy-style format on a board of 5 categories and 4 questions each, worth 100 to 400 points, including a surprise category.
- Turn order follows preliminary round rank. The team in control picks a category and point value, and the tile is removed once played.
- The team in control has 30 seconds to answer. A correct answer earns the full point value, with no penalty for a wrong answer or a pass.
- On a miss, the question bounces to the remaining teams in turn order with 15 seconds each, and a correct answer earns half the point value.
- Control passes to the team that answers correctly, or to the next team in order if none do.
- Teams may confer, but only the designated speaker may answer. Electronic devices and prompting from the audience are prohibited.
- The round ends when the board is cleared or the allotted time expires. The quizmaster's decision is final and binding.
Tied teams face sudden death questions on the buzzer, with 15 seconds to answer and no negative marking. The first team to answer correctly when the others do not wins. If all or none answer correctly, the question is void and the next one is posed. Sudden death continues until the tie is broken.
